About Us
Big Rock Forge is a virtual gallery highlighting the craftsmanship of Scott A. Roush, an apprentice bladesmith, woodworker and photographer living in Northern Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior. Scott’s forge and workshop are located on 10 acres of fruit trees, gardens and woodland just above the “Big Rock Hole” on the Sioux River, famous for its salmon and steelhead runs, he lives a sustainable lifestyle with his wife, two kids, bird dog Clover and chickens. Scott’s metal and woodwork draw their inspiration from the Scandinavian, Native American and hunting traditions that are infused into the boreal landscapes of the Northwoods and become manifest in the form of traditional, functional, yet beautiful tools. His photography is an expression of his fascination with the diversity of both nature and Mankind and has been shown in galleries, won various awards, been published in magazines and was commissioned to produce still images for the ground-breaking BBC/Discovery Channel “Planet Earth Series”.
Feel free to give Scott a call or send an email to arrange a tour of his forge and shop or to discuss custom blade work. He can also be contacted to purchase photographic prints.
