Sgian Achlais

The sgian achlais, or ‘armpit knife’, was sometimes carried by Scottish highlanders under their coats near the armpit. My version is inspired by an original but I decided to make a plausible variation on the style.  This could have easily been carried by Scottish warrior during the Jacobite revolution.  The blade was forged from 1075 tool steel and the grip is curly maple taken from my firewood pile.  The overall length is 14″ with an 8″ blade.

I’m offering this knife for $500 with sheath (not yet made).   Please inquire for further pictures and shipping options.
